How many books can students check out? *K-1 book (will increase to 2 books in the 3rd quarter) *1st-2 books *2nd-3 books *3rd-3 books (will increase to no limit in 3rd quarter) 4th/5th-no limit *We never want students to leave the library without a book, therefore these limits are flexible and students are reminded to return books when they are finished. They should try to keep this number of books checked out. When can students check out books? 8:00 am until 2:50 pm (when dismissal starts)
What happens if books are overdue/lost/damaged? We do not charge overdue fines, but encourage students to bring books back when they are finished reading. If a student loses a book, we will send home a note with the replacement cost on it. We attempt to repair any damaged books to put them back on the shelf, but if we cannot repair it, we will send home a note with the replacement cost on it. We would like for families to pay that replacement cost, but understand that can be difficult. If you are unable to send the replacement cost, please reach out to us and we can work on a win-win.
How often does my student visit the library with their class? Students come to the library about every other week with their class. They visit for 2 days in a row, checking out books on the 2nd day. They are free to come on other days to return and check out new books! In fact, we would like students to come to the library at least once a week!
What happens if I accidentally returned my Combs library book to the public library? No worries! The public library will send that book to us, although it may take a little time. If you let us know this happened, we will be on the lookout and make sure the student still gets to check out books as we wait its return.
